Bremen is Germany’s smallest state by population and consists of two cities: Bremen and Bremerhaven. It is a city-state and one of the oldest trading cities in Germany. Its parliament is called the Bremische Bürgerschaft and the head of government is the Bürgermeister/in (Senatspräsident/in). The port of Bremen and Bremerhaven handles a significant share of German foreign trade. The Bremen Town Musicians statue is one of Germany’s most photographed sculptures.
