Saxony-Anhalt (Sachsen-Anhalt) is located in central-eastern Germany. Its capital is Magdeburg, home to the Landtag and one of Germany’s oldest cathedrals. The state is historically significant as the heartland of the Protestant Reformation — Martin Luther was born in Eisleben and posted his 95 Theses in Wittenberg, both in Sachsen-Anhalt. The Bauhaus art movement was also founded in Dessau. The head of government is the Ministerpräsident/in.
